The Redtails are a group of highly skilled African American pilots known for their service during World War II as part of the Tuskegee Airmen. They earned their nickname due to the distinctive red markings on the tails of their aircraft. These pilots broke racial barriers and were renowned for their bravery and success in combat, particularly for their role in escorting bombers and ensuring the safety of Allied forces in Europe. Their exceptional performance helped to challenge and eventually dismantle the racial segregation in the U.S. military.
